International professional services firm Ernst and Young (EY) will host its second pan-Mediterranean Strategic Growth Forum on Feb 9 and 10 in Rome following an inaugural session last year that brought together “exceptional leaders from across the private, public and social sectors”.

This year’s keynote address will be delivered by Angelino Alfano, Italy’s minister of Foreign Affairs.

With the “Mediterranean’s unique and strategic position between the mature Western economies and the emerging Far East, the EY Strategic Growth Forum in Rome aims to accelerate growth by fostering business across countries and ‘unlocking’ the investment potential offered by an increasingly interconnected broader Mediterranean area”, said the London-headquartered company.

One of the main sessions this year will discuss technology and “the digital impact”. Participants include Aytül Erçil, CEO, Vistek Isra; Gianni Martino, country manager, Car2go; Alberto Messaggi, general manager, Feralpi Group; Verónica Pascual Boé, CEO, ASTI; and Michele Viscardi, business development director, Cosberg.

Other sessions will cover infrastructure and logistics, renewable energy and cyber security.

EY said “the forum helps strengthen relationships among business leaders, entrepreneurs, companies, financial institutions, leading politicians and other government officials and create greater awareness and knowledge of local issues in order to identify concrete opportunities for investment”.

Last year nearly 600 delegates from across the Mediterranean region and the globe participated, including Maria Elena Boschi, Italian minister for constitutional reform; Steve Stathis Tzikakis, senior vice president of SAP South Europe, Middle East & Africa; and José Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission from 2004 to 2014.
